Shootings

The purpose of this portion of this website, is to enable and facilitate Brainstorming amongst yourselves in your communities … to figure out how to minimize or prevent the tragedies discussed below.

Brainstorming is a method of discussing issues, to figure out a Solution.   The key feature is that there are no putdowns of ideas.   This allows people to … feel good about the process … think freely and creatively.   And especially, this allows even poor ideas to be very helpful, because they might trigger excellent ideas by other people.

About major tragedies … there are at least 6 separate topics …
   School Shootings {only at schools}
   Terrorism
   Revenge Shootings
   Serial Shootings
   Mass Shootings {elsewhere, without specific targets for specific reasons}
   Shootings like the one in Dallas {specific targets for specific reasons}

The resulting tragedies and suffering and sadness and mourning and anger … enormous !

Solutions? … {Possibilities given here, may or may not be correct, but are intended as a beginning for Brainstorming} …

“Shootings” is the term used almost all the time … But, there also have been, or could be …  Bombings  /  Killing by crashing vehicles into crowds of people  /  Crashing planes into buildings  /  Nuclear Dirty Bomb  /  Chemical Weapons  /  Poisonings, in air, or in water, or in food  /  Fires  /  Knifings  /  Personal beatings  /  Threats with and without actual incidents  /  and others.

School “Shootings” …
   This topic was addressed a while ago, in a separate section of this website.   It would be very helpful to read that section first.
   As stated in “School Shootings” in a separate section of this website, in almost all cases of “Shootings”, someone knew something beforehand, or suspected something, such as …  Excess weapons or bombs  /  Previous threats  /  Statements on the Web  /  Statements to other people  /  Mental issues  /  Other.
      There is a slight chance that this could occur with a killing of one significant person.
      An obvious Solution is for people to pay much more attention, and closer attention, to all the possibilities, and to report anything which is suspicious and/or unusual.

Terrorism …
   usually involves Mass “Shootings” {See above for other methods of killing.} … but could occur with a killing of one significant person.
   usually has the purpose of any or all of …  Making a Statement  /  Revenge  /  Causing Fear  /  Other.
   usually involves Mass “Shootings” … because this causes the greatest effects {Making a Statement  /  Revenge  /  Causing Fear  /  Other}.
      One obvious Solution is … If someone knows something beforehand, or suspects something … Report it !
      Another obvious Solution is to have Maximum Security for any Mass Gatherings !!!   It is interesting/puzzling that there have been no Mass “Shootings” at football games, or at other sports events.   Individuals might want to exercise caution in addition to the Security, certainly by being very watchful for suspicious and/or unusual things, and reporting those things, by not being in the middle of a Mass Event, or by not attending a Mass Event.   And, based on the tragic event in Nice, France — Mass Events which celebrate things that are offensive to Terrorists, are much more likely to be targets.

Revenge “Shootings” …
   This is usually about a very disgruntled employee.   It also could be about a person who is angry about …  being bullied  /  road rage  /  very bad treatment by an organization  /  very bad treatment by another segment of society.   Also, it could be about mental illness issues.
   In almost all of these “Shootings”, someone knew something beforehand, or suspected something.
      An obvious Solution is … If someone knows something beforehand, or suspects something … Report it !

Serial “Shootings” …
   This probably is about mental illness issues.
   It also could be about a person who is angry about …  being bullied  /  road rage  /  very bad treatment by an organization  /  very bad treatment by another segment of society.
      An obvious Solution is … If someone knows something beforehand, or suspects something … Report it !

Mass “Shootings” {not Terrorism} …
   This usually is to make a Statement … and/or to take Revenge … and/or it is about mental illness issues.
      One obvious Solution is … If someone knows something beforehand, or suspects something … Report it !

Shootings like the one in Dallas …
   This was about specific targets for specific reasons.   It seems to have been about a military person who was discouraged and disillusioned and very angry about the major injustice of the conduct of the USA police versus Black people, and perhaps all this, combined with some mental illness issues.

   About Shootings like the one in Dallas, which was about specific targets … This is much more complicated, even involving Racism, and our Society …
      About the Dallas shooter … the following seemed to be factors that caused him to do this … Anger about Racism and unfairness of the major injustice  /  Mental Health  /  PTSD .
      About some of the military feeling worthless when they return to the USA … and the military Blacks feeling even more worthless, and also angry, as they watch how Blacks are treated in the USA … No wonder that some of them want to retaliate against the Whites and/or authority !
      One obvious Solution is … If someone knows something suspicious beforehand, or suspects something … Report it !
      The major obvious Solution is to reduce/stop Racism !
